Coaching Bio:
Coach Sofran enters his 26th varsity season of coaching in the Detroit Catholic League and his 9th at Detroit Catholic Central. He serves as the Director of Football Operations and Wide Receivers Coach.
Throughout his career he has coached in 298 games with 223 victories (.748). Over 25 years, he has been a part of 23 playoff seasons, 15 District Championships, 10 Regional Championships, 7 State Final appearances, and 5 State Championships.
In 2013 he was selected as the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) Assistant Coach of the year. In 2025, he was inducted into the Detroit Catholic League Hall of Fame. Over his tenure, he has coached multiple All State and College bound student athletes, most recently CC receivers: Kam Davenport ‘22 (Saginaw Valley), Raid Zerki ‘22 (Saginaw Valley), Owen Semp ‘22 (Valparaiso), and Nico McBride ‘25 (John Carroll).
In the summer of 2022 and 2023, he was selected to Coach at the prestigious Manning Passing Academy at Nicholls State University in Thibodeau, Louisiana run by Peyton, Eli, and Archie Manning. He was able to assist with 1300+ high school campers from 47 states, and 40+ collegiate quarterbacks including Bryce Young (Alabama/Carolina Panthers), Will Levis (Kentucky/ Tennessee Titans), Anthony Richardson (Florida/ Indianapolis Colts), Michael Penix (Washington/ Atlanta Falcons), and Drake Maye (North Carolina/ New England Patriots).
Playing Bio:
Received a football scholarship signing in 1996, became a 4 year letterman (1996-1999), started and played in 44 consecutive games at FCS/ Division 1AA Northeastern University, Boston, MA. Team co-captain in 1999 and was Atlantic 10 - All Academic Team.
Played under Barry Gallup (Boston College), Joe Philbin (Las Vegas Raiders), Darren Rizzi (Denver Broncos), Jim Salgado (Louisiana- DC), Jimmy Turner (Memphis Showboats), Bruce Tall (Emory & Henry). In college, he was the President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He was also selected to the NCAA Leadership Foundation in Orlando, FL (1999). High School All State, Blue Chip, selected to 1996 MHSFCA All Star Game.
Personal:
He currently resides in Beverly Hills with his wife Heather (25 years), and children Peyton (17), and Sadie (15). Serves Detroit Catholic Central as the Associate Athletic Director.
